Today, I want to thank you for your participation in one of the most important elections of our time. The Foundation recognizes this historical moment, with the selection of Kamala Harris as vice president-elect: the daughter of immigrants and the first Black and South Asian woman to hold the office.
This was an election where more voters made their voices heard than ever before: and women were pivotal in that.
Click here to watch my video message reflecting on this monumental time.
Black women in Georgia and Philadelphia, Latinx women and Native women in Arizona, and all across the country, ensured their voices were heard. And now, comes the next stage.
We need to see through that the Biden-Harris presidency embodies and enacts policies that will support women and families: for economic security, non-violence, affirmation of Black lives, affirmation of immigrants, support for poor communities and the ending of mass incarceration and other criminalization practices.
We have an opportunity to continue to work together. But today, we take the time to commemorate the power of democracy and acknowledge that you made a difference.
The Foundation is here with you, and for you. Together, we can continue to build a city, state and country that is equitable and just for all.
In Solidarity,
Ana Oliveira
