The New York Women’s Foundation invests in movements that strengthen and expand democratic participation, political empowerment, and women’s leadership with a focus on building the power of immigrants, LGBTQ+ people, and communities of color.
As part of Resilience NYC, The Foundation launched its Civic Engagement grantmaking strategy in 2017 to support community-based organizations that are increasing women’s leadership in the political process. Our investments build upon the strengths, social capital, and leadership of women, girls, and gender-expansive people to enhance participation, leadership, and influence, especially the leadership of women of color.
Our grantee partners are dismantling barriers and transforming systems to enable broader participation and decision-making power for women, girls, and gender-expansive people. The Foundation’s investments amplify these voices and expand their political power to combat gender and racial inequity.
