The New York Women’s Foundation is proud to see President and CEO Ana Oliveira be featured amongst the leaders of the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic (NTAC)’s “Women Leaders of NTAC’s Pack.”
Ana and her fellow honorees are being recognized for crafting strategies unique to their community and organization to address and improve the needs of low-income and service starved individuals and communities.
At The Foundation, Ana has increased grantmaking to today’s $10 million and launched the National Collaborative of Young Women’s Initiative. She has served on numerous commissions and is a respected voice in racial and gender justice philanthropy.

Dr. Adelaide Sanford served in various roles from classroom teacher to principal in the NYC School system. As principal of PS 21, she transformed it into an outstanding inner-city school, earning numerous awards for her leadership. Dr. Sanford was elected to the Board of Regents of the State of NY, where she chaired key committees and advocated for the education of students of African Ancestry.
Reverend Adriene Thorne is the eighth senior minister of the historic Riverside Church in the City of New York and the first African American woman to hold the position. Prior to leading Riverside, Rev. Thorne served The First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn for six years where she cofounded the award-winning Brooklyn Heights Community Fridge and where the community named her one of the Top Ten Most Impactful People.
Onida Coward Mayers is a manifestation of her community, professional work, and family. Mrs. Mayers was awarded the City and State “Above and Beyond” recognition as a Woman of Public and Civic Mind as a result and launching several civic engagement firsts including NYC Votes, NYC’s Video Voter Guide, and the NYC Youth Poet Laureate (YPL) program, Student Voter Registration and Shield the Vote a 45 Day nationwide campaign in 2020 that distributed 10,000 free face shields to those who wanted to vote in person and be protected during the height of the Covid pandemic.
Deborah L. Johnson advances over thirty-five years of successful business experience in banking, finance, mortgage lending and community development. She is a Vice President with the National Community Reinvestment & Community Partnership team at JPMorgan Chase.
The Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic (NTAC) is a strategic partner and advisor to philanthropists, foundations, government and political entities, public institutions, grassroots nonprofit organizations, and faith-based institutions wishing to improve their programs and organizational effectiveness in addressing the needs of low-income and service starved communities.
NTAC will honor the five honorees at its 17th Annual Gala, “A Salute to New York City’s Nonprofits and the Neighborhoods They Serve” on June 4 at Giando’s on the Water, Brooklyn, NY.
