The New York Women’s Foundation was proud to join grantee partner Girls for Gender Equity (GGE) and New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams to announce the launch of the Young Women’s Initiative (YWI) 2.0.
Since the launch of our collaborative fund—the NYC Fund for Girls and Young Women of Color—we, along with our collaborative partners, have invested almost $17 million in girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth of color in NYC. We are excited to continue our commitment through this initiative.
As our Senior Vice President, Programs & Strategic Learning Camille Emeagwali put it: “Sustained investment in the transformational leadership and life outcomes of young people is necessary to see generational change.”
Launched in 2015 as the nation’s first initiative dedicated to improving outcomes for young women and girls, the Young Women’s Initiative seeks to invest in young women and girls in New York City over the long term, especially women from communities of color. We are proud to invest in the policies and priorities that help young women and girls in New York City thrive.
